diskscan software package provides scan storage media for bad or near failure sectors, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install diskscan
diskscan is installed in your system.
Make ensure the diskscan package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep diskscan *
You will get with diskscan package name, version, architecture and description in a table
